Blood vessels constrict so if we get injured we don"t bleed. Hormones release that let us pay close attention to stimuli around us. If you"re in extreme overdrive, you can defecate or urinate on yourself: cortisol, adrenaline. Dorsal ventral (4- legged animal: dorsal is the back, ventral is the belly, dorsal is back of head, ventral is mouth and throat (in 4-legged animal, dorsal is back and ventral is stomach. Medial-lateral: medial is towards the middle line and lateral is to the outside. Superior: above or towards top of the brain. Inferior: below or towards bottom of the brain. Ipsilateral: projections on same side of the body. Bilateral is something appearing on both sides of the brain. Can make virtual cuts (mri) or actual cuts, down the brain. Coronal (or frontal) slices: right angle to neuraxis, plane moves from front to back, slicing from anterior to posterior, would see top, bottom, left and right, would not see front and back.
