Main side effects: severe pain at site of injection. Drug of choice in streptococcal pharyngitis & tonsillitis. Methicillins cloxacillin dicloxacillin flucloxacillin in combination with ampicillin & amoxycillin. Against g+ve & g-ve (mainly on g+ve) No anti-staph effect (penicillinase sensitive) except if combined with penicillinase-inhibitors. Amoxycillins : emox ibiamox biomox - amoxcil. Ampiflox 250 & 500 caps: ampicillin + cloxacillin. 7 le: amoxycillin + penicillinase resistant penicillins. Flumox 250 susp 250 & 500 caps. 13 , 8 , 18 le: amoxycillin + dicloxacillin. 16 caps 11. 5 le: ampicillin + penicillinase inhibitor (sulbactam) 33 le: other common trade names : unictam - sulbin, amoxycillin + penicillinase inhibitor (clavulanic acid) Augmentin 375, 625 mg , 1 gm tab.
