Document Summary

Answer: documentary photographs can focus on the positive as well as the negative aspects of situations. Capturing the moment before, during, or after a positive event will create a sense of joy. For example, a photo that shows a basketball in the air just before a player makes a winning shot is a positive situation for the winning team. In many cases, documentary photos that create a sense of positivity focus on a person"s or group"s victory. Answer: photographs that focus on the positives will most likely not have the same power to draw emotion as photographs that focus on the negatives. Negativity is more commonly found in nature and therefore better understood. People have an easier time withdrawing emotion from a photo that focuses on the negatives because it is an emotion that people can easily connect too.
