America moves west through the 1800s - westward expansion is the destiny we must control. Plan to take as much land as possible and fill that land with people. Some plans to take over parts of mexico hmmmm. The desire to go west was to bring all of their technology with them (trains, etc. ) The american wild west was not what it was planned to be. Buffalo bill"s wild west show w/ battles and staged robberies. If you were a kid in the 1830s, by the time you were 65 you probably would have ridden a train, gotten mail, experienced electric lights, etc. Pony express mail from post to post to post to p. Ran for a year and a half, replaced by train and/or telegram. Pro gunmen at most would kill like, two people. People didn"t actually shoot people that much. Americans didn"t really have a mythology, since it"s a new country but the wild.
