Neuroscience- study of brain and nervous system- mixes psychology, medicine, computer science together to learn. Biological psychology-subfield of psychology, focuses on how the brain and other biological factors impact behavior. Phrenology- early approach to explain the brain by looking at physical structure of the brain (bumps, ridges) and link that to characteristics. Ablation- destroying parts of living animals brains and seeing whether function was lost. Cat (computerized axial tomography) scan(x-rays), mri, (magnetic resonance imaging) it"s a magnet that analyzes electromagnetic responses from brain cells. Similar to cat but mri is better detail fmri- functional mri, sees what part of the brain gets the most oxygen (is activated) when preforming a task. Eeg- electroencephalogram, look at electrical activity of the brain, often used in sleep studies.
