The public health problem of suicidal behavior is so important that several goals stated inhealthy people. 2010 and retained in healthy people 2020 directly target the reduction of deaths by suicide (curtin, Warner, & hedegaard, 2016; u. s. department of health and human services [u. s. dhhs], 2014). Most people who die by suicide have a mental disorder or emotional problem with depression as the most common underlying disorder (mha, 2016). The term suicidality refers to all suicide-related behaviors and thoughts of completing or attempting suicide and suicide ideation. suicidal ideation is thinking about and planning one"s own death.
