1. AC 351 – Intermediate Accounting I

This course is a three hundred level class, so most students begin to think it is a blow off. However, many students who have taken the course say that this class one their toughest by far. With lots of material covered and lengthy, cumulative exams, AC 351 is not on many students’ list of desired classes

2. BI 254 – Organismal Diversity

For any biology major, this course lives up to its terrible reputation. In BI 254 students are tested to their max with not only lectures but lab experiments as well. This course is weighted heavily on exam scores and this is one of the most frequent courses visited at the tutor center.

3. EC 464 – Intermediate Macroeconomics

Macroeconomics is a high level course for students who are almost done with their degree. With this course in the schedule, there is no such thing as an easy junior or senior year. The exams are nearly impossible, as said by the students, and there is an overwhelming amount of material.

4. MA 221 – Statistics I

MA 221 is a course that students enter into, fully prepared to work their rear end off in! If they sign up for this course, there will be countless hours of work outside of the lecture. Students are also expected to remember everything from previous math classes. Many freshmen find this course miserable.

5. HI 226 – Laboratory Course in Historical Method

This course takes students into the realm of the passed and used to challenge those who have decided to accept history as their major. Through many deep thinking projects, students often drop the course because of the hours of work it entails outside of the classroom.

6. PH 120 – Ethics

PH 120 molds students into a different way of thinking, which many do not care for. This course forces students to think outside of the box. Beyond the books, many critical thinking skills need to in place when trying to pass this very hard course.

7. BS 251 – Business Law I

BS 251 focuses on cost determination in jobs and process cost systems, including standard cost measurement. A big part of the class is on cost information for decision-making, including ethical issues. Students must have great knowledge in technology and computer skills for this tough course.

8. BI 151 – Molecular and Cellular Biology

This course covers all topics about molecular and cellular biology.  It is an in depth expansion of the structural components of nature, which many students have a hard time grasping. The prerequisite of this class is general chemistry, which is also a very hard class.

9. AS 232 – Graphic Design

AS 232 teaches students the foundation of different design theories of architecture. There are many intricate details that go alone with this course for students, and takes up lots of time outside of the classroom. This class requires students to have a good handle on computer programming skills too.

10. BS 353 – Fundamentals of Management

BS 353 covers management of the sales component of a firm’s marketing program. It emphasizes the relationship between sales management and marketing strategy, and teaches the basic understanding of marketing firms as well. There is a lot of course work and reading outside of the classroom which can be very overwhelming for students alongside their other classes.

Overall, Baker University has many courses and overall great professors to teach them. Many experienced students say if you try and avoid these classes and can manage on graduating without them, your college career at BU will be amazing!
