College isn’t just about getting high GPA. It is also about earning experience outside the class which is why CSUN offers many clubs and organization to its students. Joining clubs in school might not be the best way for you to gain experience but it is the first step. Here are some math and science related club in CSUN.

1. VEX Robotics Club

VEX Robotics Club‘s main goal is to inspire students to be more involved in math, science, and technology. If you are interested on building a robot this club is for you. The robotics club designs a program and build a robot to compete in the World VEX U Robotics competition. This gives you a hands on experience and allows you to established a good resume for graduate school. Meetings are every Friday at 5:00 pm in Jacaranda Hall Room 1128.

2. American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE)

ASCE is an club in CSUN where engineering majors get hands on experience and learn opportunities that will help them for the future. When you attend their meeting you get to know more engineering majors. They also have informations about scholarship, internship and volunteer opportunity for engineering students which is very helpful. They offer three special project to all active members that will allow you to gain hands on experience. Their meetings are held every other Wednesday at 5:00 pm in Jacaranda Hall room 1565.

3. CSUN Chemistry & Biochemistry Club

Chemistry and Biochemistry club is usually called Chemistry Club by CSUN students. This club hold different event throughout the semester. Sometimes they invite speaker from other university to talk about career in chemistry and research opportunity for students. Sometimes they invite high school or middle school student to CSUN and spend a day of showing simple chemistry experiment to these students. Their club meeting is only once a month on a Thursday at 5:30 pm held in USU Calabasas Room.

4. American Medical Student Association (AMSA)

AMSA is a club in CSUN made for pre-medical students in CSUN. Joining this club allows pre-med students to learn about volunteering opportunity, test preparations and test dates. Sometimes the club holds a fundraising event for the club and invites speaker in CSUN to talk about the process of applying to Medical school and to give advice to pre-med students on what classes will be helpful for them. Club meetings are on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 5:00-6:00 pm.

5. Pre-Dental Club

Pre-dental Club in CSUN is made for students who are planning to be dentist. They have different events that could help each student plan a successful path toward dental school. They have informations about dental admission test, classes that you can take in CSUN that will be very helpful when applying to dental school and many other informations. To learn more about the club you can go on their meetings. They have their club meetings on Tuesdays at 4:00 pm.

There are other clubs in CSUN that is not math and science related if you are not interested on these ones. You can check them here and you can start joining clubs. One benefit of joining clubs is you get to know more people and gaining experience on the field you like and build a better resume for yourself.
