Here are the best places to eat in the City of Chico, all around Chico State University. Tested by and for students and the surrounding public. Be sure to try all of them and find some other gems for yourself. A lot of amazing places are yet to be uncovered.
1. Pita Pit
A decently priced restaurant that takes Subway’s idea of getting anything you want on a sandwich, and converts it to pitas. They have many coupons and rewards on Pocket Points, so you can enjoy that pita for half-off or BOGO with a friend. All in all, Pita pit gets a rating of 4 stars.
2. Madison Bear Garden
Probably one of the most well-known places to eat in Chico. Madison Bear Garden or “The Bear” is a colorful hodgepodge of collectible decorations and people. The menu is fair, maybe overpriced for a broke college student, but full of amazing foods to try. The #1 recommendation: The Jiffy Burger. A burger with peanut butter on it. Hey, don’t knock it ’til you try it! The Bear gets 4 stars, and the only downside would be the noise.
Nash’s is a beautiful little restaurant with amazing food. The only problem, it is EXPENSIVE. However, it is not overpriced, meaning you definitely get what you paid for. The inside is lit with fairy lights and it’s so beautiful that a wedding reception could be held there. Nash’s gets 3 stars, with the only complaint being the prices.
4. Woodstock’s Pizza
One of the most popular pizza joints in Chico, Woodstock’s is great mostly because it offers free delivery to students on campus. That way, if you’re cramming for a final, you can order a decently priced pizza and get it to your dorm room without paying any extra fees. Although it is very popular, the pizza is decent in terms of taste. Most would prefer Domino’s, which is just down the street and you can get BOGO free. Overall, Woodstock’s gets 3 stars.
5. Aca Taco
One of the most popular Mexican Food places in town, Aca Taco was voted best burrito in Chico. However, the tacos are just not the best. The restaurant is by far better than Tacos Mary, but not as good as authentic or home cooked Mexican food.
All of these places are worth trying! Keep in mind, these are just reviews from a picky person. There are many other places in Chico that could have made the list, but just fell a little short. There are also new places popping up all the time, so feel free to leave a comment with your opinions.
Well, hope this helps! Happy Studies!
