CLAS 1500 is a Classical Mythology class at ECU. The class is not meant to be hard, and it can be an easy course for anyone wanting an elective course (if it is not needed for your major). However, you can struggle in the class if you put in little to no effort. To aid you in the class, and to help you to pass easily, follow these five tips:

1. Go To Class

You absolutely have to go to class in order to pass this course. There are weekly quizzes, and some of the answers on each quiz are given by the professor in class. The professor does post her powerpoints to Blackboard, but these will only help to refresh your memory after going to class.

2. Study Powerpoint Lectures

Studying the powerpoint lectures are not a substitute for going to class, but they can definitely help you if you look at them before taking quizzes or tests. The powerpoints have pictures and phrases that can provoke your memory on something that was talked about in class. Therefore, if you study these powerpoint presentations, you are likely to get a better grade in the class.

3. Do The Study Guides

There are not study guides for the weekly quizzes, but there are study guides for the tests. The information on the study guides are not strictly what will be on the test, but all of the thoughts and concepts on the test are on the study guide. Study the study guide, learn the thoughts and concepts on the study guide, and you will ace the test!

4. Go To Office Hours

You do not have to go to the professor’s office hours to pass this class, but if you are looking for an A, it might be wise to go to the office hours every now and then. The professor knows their stuff, so getting one-on-one learning time will only be beneficial to yourself. This learning time could make the difference in you making an A or B on a test.

5. Take Notes

Because the Powerpoint lectures do not have every bit of information that you need to know, you should take notes while in class. These notes should have the information that the professor tells you that is not on the powerpoints. This will mostly help you with the quizzes, and will help you to succeed.

CLAS 1500 is not a difficult course, but you have to go to class and put in some effort. It can be a fun class, as you get to talk about Greek mythology. Many students love talking about Greek Mythology, especially since Percy Jackson has broadened the knowledge on Greek Mythology. Take CLAS 1500, succeed in the class, and have fun!
