Grinding in the library or in your dorm, it’s easy to become immersed in your studies and forget about your physical, mental and emotional health. Here are 7 places you can go to in the midst of finals week to escape any stress and forget about your worries for a few minutes to a few hours.

1. Carmichael Gymnasium

The best place to let loose after a couple of days of grinding is the gym. Letting out all your frustration of information you can’t understand, as well as just getting your anger out on that one professor who didn’t hold a review session. It’s also a great way to take a break – whether it’s an hour-long Zumba class or just 30 minutes of yoga.


2. Talley Student Union

For a quick break, take a trip to the student union and treat yourself to some ice cream and a few minutes of socializing before getting back to the grind. From yummy food places like One Earth to Talley Market, all of your cravings can be met! Furthermore, Talley has great rooftop views to enjoy.


3. Global Village

The library can get annoying to constantly sit in. Change up your study location to keep yourself inspired and motivated. Global Village has some of the best hot chocolate on campus. Their rustic vibes and good music are sure to keep you inspired and motivated.

4. Pullen Park

A big part of studying is staying indoors and pacing out all your studies. If the weather permits, get outside and study in a peaceful park somewhere! Fewer people will be around, and the outdoors will remind you of a better time in your life. Fresh air is a great way to keep you motivated.


5. Cameron Village

Leaving campus and just taking an hour to forget about your stresses is a simple way to refresh your brain and encourage yourself to keep studying. Cameron Village has many options, from great food places like Cantina 18 and Benelux to beautiful stores like Ivy & Leo. It’s a great place to get your mind off all your studying for a bit.

The best way to keep yourself motivated and on track while studying is by doing the exact opposite – but only for a few hours at a time. Taking breaks or changing up your study location can do wonders for your mental health as well as your grades themselves. NC State has beautiful spots where you can do so, such as Cameron Village and Pullen Park.
