1.Read the Textbook
This may seem like a no-brainer, but many students think the reading in the book is too long and takes too much time. If you take the time and read through a chapter a day, then the lectures will be a review for you.
2.Buy the Review Book
The review book is not required for the class, but it does have a lot of practice questions that help you grasp the concepts. It also summarizes the chapters in the textbook.
3. Make Sure You Understand The Labs
The dreaded labs every week are what bring most students’ grades down because the concepts are hard to memorize. It helps to read through the lab book before each lab and make sure you understand the material BEFORE the labs. Understanding the labs will probably be the most helpful for you in this class.
Go To Aplus Tutoring
You may be cautious about tutoring because you never had to go to tutoring in high school. Aplus Tutoring is not the only place in College Station that offers help in this course. Many students have said that Aplus tends to be the most helpful, especially with the paper reviews they hand out every session. Each session is 2 hours long and costs $14. It is best to go to at least 1 or 2 sessions before a test, but there is a season pass also available for $170.
Study the Test Banks
The biology professors at A&M release different questions that have been used on previous tests online. These questions help IMMENSELY. They give you an insight into the topics they will emphasize on for the test and if you’re lucky, the test bank questions will show up on your test!
With these tips, you are sure to be ready to take on this course! Approach this class with confidence and maintain good study habits throughout the whole semester. After this class, some of you may even be tackling Bio 112!
