For many of us snacking and eating is the best part of the day! Here are some ideas for essential foods to keep in your dorm room at all times!

  1. Popcorn

Popcorn is one of the best foods to have in your dorm room. Whether you have the full movie theater buttery type or a healthier popcorn like SkinnyPop or Skinny Girl, popcorn is a great and delicious snack to have in your room. Not only will it make your room smell amazing, but it is also a great way to meet people! If you keep your door open, pop a bag of popcorn and invite people in, your entire floor will love you!

  1. Protein Bars

Protein bars are a great all-around snack to have in your dorm room. If you are running late to class and need a snack, they are an east grab and go snack. Make sure you check the sugar contents on some of them because some can be packed with unnecessary amounts of sugar. Clif Bars, RX Bars and Luna Bars are known to be some of the best protein bars and are delicious.

  1. Nature Valley Granola Bites

The Nature Valley Granola Crunch bites are one of the most delicious snacks to have in your dorm room. If you love the Nature Valley granola bars, you will love these. The maple brown sugar flavor is by far the best, but all of the flavors are delicious! Sprinkle this over yogurt, oatmeal or a smoothie for breakfast or eat it straight for a snack, either way it will definitely be one of the best parts of your day.

  1. Pop Tarts

Pop Tarts are the epitome of dorm room food. Not the healthiest option, but definitely a great thing to keep in your room for anytime where you need a quick snack. The brown sugar cinnamon, S’mores and Cookies ‘n’ Crème flavors are definitely some of the best Pop Tart offers. Toast, microwave or eat them straight out of the package, any way will be an easy and quick way to fill your stomach when in a rush!

  1. Easy Mac

Easy Mac is definitely a go to food for college students. The cheap and easy to make meal is great for any time. Single serving containers will definitely be your friend on Sunday nights, when the dining courts are closed. If you are looking for a slightly healthier option Annie’s mac and cheese is the way to go.

  1. Ice Cream

Ice cream is one of the best things to keep in your room, if you have a freezer. Ice cream is perfect for hot afternoons in some of the non-air-conditioned rooms or when you have a late night sweet craving. Most brands are relatively cheap and if you buy it at 3rd Street Market, you are able to pay with you dining dollars.

  1. Chips/Pretzels

Chips and pretzels are a great snack to have in your room for when you need to stress eat or snack when studying. Snacking can help to keep you focused and can also be a motivator to continue studying. The single serving packs you can pick up at On the Go will come in handy when you’re hungry.

  1. Canned Soup

Canned soup is a great food item to keep in your dorm, especially for when you get sick. From Campbell’s Chicken and Stars, to Progresso to healthier options like Healthy Choice, you can’t go wrong with having a few cans stored away. Great for Sunday nights or when that cold hits, soup will be your best friend through the year!

  1. Fruit

Fruit is a great, healthy snack to keep in your dorm. Fruits like apples and bananas typically last the longest and provide good nutrition without any hassle. Stock up on free fruit by picking up a piece when you go to the dining courts. You are allowed to take 1 piece of fruit out every time you go into a dining court. Keep an apple in your backpack for an easy to access snack when you are on academic campus!

  1. Candy

Candy and cookies are definitely not the healthiest option to have in your dorm room, but treat yourself! These are a great way to solve a sweet craving, have a little dessert or reward yourself for studying. Pick up some of the candy that On the Go offers next time you go in.
