Walk or Bike to Class!
Don’t drive or take the bus to class! Walking or biking to class is a great and easy way to get exercise during the day.
Eat Healthy Foods
Food is fuel for the body. Keeping this in mind, it is crucial to eat foods that are dense in nutrients. Load up on fruits and veggies daily!
Join a Fitness Class
Join yoga, cycling, kick-boxing, or any other fitness class! Group fitness can be very motivating and fun. Also, if you buy a class pass you will be more inclined to go to the classes and therefore get a good workout in.
Utilize the University Rec
Most Universities have recreation centers that are a part of our tuition costs. Take advantage of being a member of this workout facility that is right on campus. Strive to workout 5+ times every week.
Stay in Control of Your Stress
Stress causes anxiety which causes a lack of sleep which leads to weight gain. Keeping our stress levels lows are vital to being a healthy and happy person. Not only will you feel better mentally but physically too.
Sleep is crucial to our overall mental and physical health. We need to sleep at least 8 hours per night for our bodies to function correctly the following day. Sufficient sleep will improve your health and perhaps your success as a student.
Wash Your Hands
Wash your hands often and carry around a hand sanitizer in your backpack. Campuses are a breading ground for germs. You have good hygiene to have good health!
Naps will be your best friend in college. We aren’t working 7 hours days yet, so we actually have the time to take a quick power nap daily. Naps recharge your mind and body and reduce stress levels.
Meditate & Yoga
Both meditation and yoga are great in keeping the mind and the body balanced and healthy. Both are also a great cure for stress!
Relax & Have Fun!
Don’t forget to give yourself a break here and there, and to enjoy college. Yes, college can be very stressful. Little breaks are necessary to be happy, and being happy improves your mental and physical health. If you are happy you’ll be more inclined to eat healthy, workout, and be active in general.
Don’t ever take your body for granted! Our bodies will always be with us for as long as we live. Our bodies are what keep us alive, moving, and thinking. Eat well. Exercise frequently. Relax. & Be happy!
