According to USA TODAY and to TOP Universities websites, studying psychology in the US is a privilege as most of the best psychology programs in the world are located in the US. Here are the top 10 universities to study psychology for the year 2017.

1- Harvard

Who needs to tell you about Harvard? Its Psychology program is one of, if not the best worldwide. It offers students a unique opportunity to study psychology from behavior to neuroscience. According to USAToday, Harvard does not even make it into the top 10. However, according to US news,  Harvard made it third for the latest classifications. Based on QS world ranking, Harvard still makes it first which earns it the top of this list as well.

2- Stanford

Stanford is world known for its famous experiments. For sure, you have studied about the Stanford Prison experiment in your introductory psych class, that started out a whole buzz in the field. Stanford has been committed to investigation, and discovery and working with the faculty lab there is indeed considered a plus on your CV. Salaries for Stanford graduates range from $53,000 to $67,000

3- University of California, Berkeley

Nothing does good to wellbeing more than the California sun. UC Berkeley‘s program offers cutting edge research and is classified number 1 (tie with Stanford) according to US news. According to QS world ranking, UCB makes it number 5.

4- Yale

Yale‘s psychology Program  is classified 5th in world ranking and 3rd according to US News. The program offers  an array of interdisciplinary explorations. According to USA Today, starting salaries are $44,000 and go to  $91,000 for the field.

5- UCLA

UCLA‘s program is heavily research based, and gives you a choice of 3 programs to choose from: Psychology (B.A.), Cognitive Science (B.S.) and Psychobiology (B.S.). According to USA TODAY , the average starting salary for a graduate of UCLA is $45,000, and it goes up to $77,000  mid-career. 

6- MIT

The Psychology program at MIT is focused on brain and cognitive science. MIT is committed to “reverse engineer the human brain”. In this program you would learn psychology in a more scientific sense and will call on your creativity. MIT received an 8th ranking according to World ranking, and was not a part of the top 10 of the USA today.

7- NYU

NYU psychology program gives the students exposure to the several fields in psychology from social, to cognitive to behavioral. the program earned 10th place in world ranking, and does not make it into the top 10 of the US News ranking.

8- U Michigan Ann Arbor

UMichigan‘s program earned the 3rd place according to the USNews website and 11th worldwide. This place is known for its inclusion and for a psychology program that exposes students to options that will help their career in the future.

9- UPenn

the UPenn program is one of the oldest and the most prestigious psychology programs.its curriculum focuses on research and academia and has an ability to provide its students with interdisciplinary courses and research. Graduates end up making $45,000 out of college and up to $79,000 at mid-career, says USA Today.

10- Columbia , NY

At the Columbia Psychology program, you will be exposed to NYC and to a fascinating pool of population to study as a psychologist. Equipped with faculty from all over the world dedicated to understanding the human behavior and brain, you will thrive with similar curious minds. Columbia is #17 according to USNews and #15 worldwide, however, according to us, it makes the top 10!

Choosing a psychology program is not an easy task if you are looking for a future career in psychology. Make sure that you choose your program based on both how good the program is, and whether it matches your personal interests.
