The Hardest Games for the University of Alabama Crimson Tide

1. Auburn University Tigers (Saturday, November 25, 2017)

The Auburn Tigers are coming off an 8-5 season and a berth in the Allstate Sugar Bowl, but Gus Malzahn is looking for more heading into his fifth year on the Plains. Of course, Auburn faces some familiar questions heading into the spring. There’s another quarterback competition, and Malzahn has a new offensive coordinator in Chip Lindsey. Star running back Kamryn Pettway also is back after rushing for 1,224 yards and seven TDs last season. Auburn has reasons for optimism, but will that be enough to challenge rival Alabama in the SEC West? The Tigers are ranked No. 19 in Sporting News’ Way-Too-Early Top 25, and here’s a preview of Auburn’s 2017 schedule, roster and biggest questions entering the season.

2. Louisiana State University Tigers (Saturday, November 4, 2017)

LSU enters its first full season under Ed Orgeron with the same high expectations in the SEC West. Les Miles and Leonard Fournette might be gone, but Orgeron has embraced those expectations with a roster that always has enough talent to compete. The Tigers showed that in an impressive 29-9 victory against Louisville in the Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl to end the 2016 season.

3. Florida State University Seminoles (September 2, 2017)

Florida State enters the 2017 season with the same lofty expectations in the ACC under eighth-year coach Jimbo Fisher.

Fisher has brought that elite stability back to the program. The Seminoles have finished in the Top 10 five times and won 10 or more games six times in those seven seasons. The Seminoles capped last season with an impressive 33-32 victory against Michigan in the Capital One Orange Bowl, and that increased expectations heading into 2017.
