The University of California, Berkeley is a public research university in Berkeley, California. There are plenty of different scholarships to help make the school more affordable. Here are 10 of the top scholarships at the University of California Berkeley that you can consider!

1. Truman D. Picard Scholarship for First-Year Students

The Truman D. Picard Scholarship is for students who are Native American and are looking to study in the field of natural resources. The application deadline is March 13th and the award amount is $2,000. You must show evidence/documentation of being within a federally recognized tribe or Alaska Native Cooperation.

2. Chicana/Latina Foundation Scholarship for First-Year Students

Chicana/Latina Foundation scholarship is meant for Latina students who are in need of assistance to complete their college degrees. As a freshman, you are able to apply after completing 12 credit hours (which can be done either by enrolling during high school or finishing your first semester of college). You must be resident for Northern California as well as studying in the fields of Arts and Humanities, Business, Engineering, Natural Sciences or Social and Behavioral Sciences. You must have at least a 2.5 GPA. The award amount is $1,500 as well as the deadline to apply is March 31st.

3. Davis Putter Scholarship for First-Year Students

Davis Putter Scholarship is for students who are actively working towards peace and justice. The students who receive the award are making strides toward making a difference in the world in areas such as racism, sexism, and homophobia. You must be an activist in a progressive movement and in a field of studies such as Arts and Humanities, Business, Engineering, Natural Sciences, Public Service, or Social and Behavioral Sciences. The deadline to apply is April 1st and the award amount is $10,000.

4. JVS Scholarship for First-Year Students

The JVS Scholarship allows students, Jewish students, to receive aid who are residents in Los Angeles County. The student must be enrolled in the
Arts and Humanities, Business, Engineering, Natural Sciences, Public Service, or Social and Behavioral Sciences field. The student will receive an award amount of $500-$5,000. The deadline for the application is March 31st.

5. Fiat Lux Scholarship for First-Year Students

The Fiat Lux Scholarship is for students who have impressive merit from high schools in the area of Bay Area, Central Coast area (Salinas), San Jose, Sequoia, Sacramento, and Los Angeles. The recipient must be a California resident and submit the California Dream Act Application. The deadline for the submission is May 1st. The award amount varies and can be renewed all four years.

6. Middle-Class Scholarship for Upper Year Students

The middle-class scholarship is for students who are in a family of an income/assets that equal less than $177,000. The maximum reward for the scholarship is $5,000. The deadline and requirements for the award are a submitted California Dream Act application or completed FAFSA by March 2nd.

7. Great Minds in STEM for Upper Year Students

The Great Minds in STEM scholarship is for students who are of Hispanic descent and/or significantly demonstrate leadership or service within the underserved community; pursuing a STEM field such as science, technology, engineering, math or a health-related field of study. The deadline to apply is April 1st and the award amount is $500-$10,000. You must have at least a 3.0 GPA.

8. Financial Women's Association of San Francisco Scholarship for Upper Year Students

This scholarship is used to encourage leadership and provide opportunities for Bay Area women in the field of finance. The award amount is $5,000 for undergraduates and $10,000 for graduate students. The deadline to apply is March 22nd and the student who applies must be in the business area of study. The minimum GPA to apply is 3.4.

9. The Creative Arts Impact Scholarship for Upper Year Students

The creative arts impact scholarship is for students who believe that art can make a global impact. The deadline to apply is either in April or October depending on which semester you apply. The recipients of the award get $2,500 that can be used to further their educational goals. Students who are undergrad or graduate are able to apply.

10. National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation (NRAEF) Scholarship for Upper Year Students

This scholarship is open to current college students who are studying culinary arts and food service management. The student who receives the award must have at least a 2.7 GPA as well as 1-3 letters of recommendation from those in the food industry, and at least 750 hours from a food service related job as evidenced by previous pay stubs or letters (if it is an internship). There is a personal essay that is due as well as the deadline is March 15th. The award amount is $2,500.

The University of Berkeley is a medium-sized school with plenty of scholarships available to help keep its costs affordable while receiving a great education. The school has various scholarships based on merit, minority or socioeconomic stance, leadership skills, and even being active in a certain club/group.
