As Facebook is one of the most popular social media platforms in college, here are 5 of the best Facebook groups to join online as a UC Berkeley student. Social media  allows you to stay in touch with friends, connect with classmates, get tips, and find important events, to name a few. These five groups tailor to the main needs of UC Berkeley students and range all the way from campus housing support and cheap textbooks, to satirical memes.

1. Housing:

This group is made up of two separate sub housing groups, including on- campus housing as well as an off campus group. The social platform shares a common goal of helping ease the housing search for students through the process of advertising roommates, vacancies, pricing, distance from campus as well as current available listings. Getting in touch with current tenants is also a breeze as they are usually available for contact through Facebook messenger.

2. UC Berkeley Lost & Found

The UC Berkeley Lost & Found Facebook group is extremely helpful for those days when you are in a rush and loose an important item somewhere on campus. This page provides a platform for students to post lost and found items along with descriptions, locations that the item was lost at, as well as reward money for items found. Items range from lost wallets, lanyards, ID cards, notebook, and water bottles to even cash.

3.  Textbook Exchange

Textbook Exchange is an easy way for students to find their textbooks early on and at discounted rates. Students use this platform to sell and buy used textbooks at a fraction of the cost of buying them at the Student Store. Sometimes, if you are lucky, sellers will even through in class notes and past exam materials free of cost. Students looking for particular books can message the sellers who often take cash or Venmo payments.

4. Course Advice

Course Advise is to provide support for pressing questions and concerns for all majors and disciplines. The platform revolves around supplying the most comprehensive advice pertaining to classes, professors, course schedules, and planning. The group is a single destination for students looking for information about course difficulty, recommendations for the best class to take or best professor, and feedback on planning. It is a wonderful student support system.

5.  UC Berkeley Memes for Edgy Teens

UC Berkeley Memes for Edgy Teens is also known as UCBMFET and has a whopping 137,000 members. Primarily centered around satire and the struggles of being a college student under stress, it relates to multiple student concerns an touches the heart of every soul. Through the relatable memes, students are able to connect with each others while alleviating some of the stress from schoolwork through satirical humor.

Regardless of whether you are interested in study tips, finding a new apartment, or developing a further understanding of the campus and classes to take, these 5 Facebook groups will help you create the most of your UC Berkeley experience. They will help you keep updated and will provide you with a network of resources to lean back on.
