4. Gatorade was invented at UF in 1965 by scientists at the University of Florida College of Medicine

5. One of the largest butterfly and moth specimen collections is housed at the University of Florida McGuire Center

6. The Gator was chosen as the official mascot after a merchant began selling pennants with an alligator on them. It became popular among students and so the Gator was created
