Exams days can be stressful. College students have so much on their plate and tests are just another addition to their busy schedules. But worry no more! With these helpful tips you’ll learn how to survive exam days with ease.
1. Locate your exam building ahead of time.
You left your dorm late. You’re sweating as you try to run with your backpack. You weave in and out of buildings, trying to find which one you’re supposed to go to. And when you finally find it and bust through the doors gasping for air, the instructor says to the rest of your class “You may begin.” It’s happened before. Don’t be this person. Locate your exam building ahead of time so you arrive at least 20 minutes early.
2. Make sure you have everything.
This includes: your I-Card, number two pencils, a calculator (for math), and a bottle of water if you need it. The most important of these is your I-Card. Instructors will check your I-Card after EVERY test.
3. Go to the bathroom!
You don’t want to be thinking about having to pee while simultaneously trying to figure out the standard deviation of puppies in the United States. Go to the bathroom before your exam so you’re not distracting during the test.
4. Don’t second guess yourself.
If you studied, or even just paid attention in class, chances are your educated guesses will suffice for questions you’re unsure about. Trust your gut! It’s almost always right.
5. Budget your time.
For most exams, you will generally be given enough time. However, make sure you still watch the clock and listen for those 15 minute warnings. Budgeting your time can help improve your score if you use that time to double check your work.
Now you’re prepared to conquer exam days without all the added anxiety. By simply preparing beforehand, you don’t have to worry about anything other than the questions on the test! You’ll surely do great with these tips. No longer will you have to fear exam days…that is assuming you studied.
