Here at the University of New Hampshire, students are supplied with so many resources to maintain good health whether it be physically or mentally. Here are a couple of ideas and suggestions that any UNH student could take while trying to maintain a healthy and happy life during your time as a Wildcat.

Physical health becomes extremely important as a college student because many of us have retired from the sports and physical activities we have done during our childhood. UNH students are lucky enough to have the Hamel Rec Center open to everyone. There is certainly something for everyone at this gym, as it is filled with multiple workout systems, an indoor track, weights, a rock wall, dance studios, basketball courts, and much more. Reserve some time in your day and make it a point to head over to the Rec Center at least 2-3 times a week. The better shape your body is in, the better you will feel about yourself, and the more positive your experience at UNH will be.

The University of New Hampshire does not only supply students with a convenient way to maintain physical health. A counselling service is located right on campus for students to make an appointment for whatever they need, whether it be individual counselling, group counselling, psychological help, etc. College can be a challenging point in life for many students, but there is always someone on campus to help and listen. Make an appointment at any time, and do not be embarrassed to take care of your mental health if you’re feeling anxious, depressed, angry, etc.

Another way to maintain a healthy life can take place right in your dorm room. Getting enough sleep is something most college kids fail to do, however it is crucial for making sure you’re performing to the best of your ability throughout your day. Talk to your roommates about going to bed at a reasonable hour, and make sure you are getting 7-8 hours of sleep a night. You will feel much more awake in the morning and be able to be more productive.

College can be a very challenging experience for most students, and it is important that every student understands the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. If you are making a point to take care of yourself, your experience as a student at UNH will become much more enjoyable, and also much easier.
