Calling all students interested in taking an art class here at the University of New Hampshire! Introductory Drawing (ARTS 532) is the perfect class to take if you are looking to develop some art skills. However, the course can be challenging and there are certain things every student can do to make sure their experience in this class is a positive one!

  1. Don’t let the amount of money you need to spend surprise you.

Before you sign up for any art class at the University of New Hampshire, make sure you have read the course description. It is almost certain that you will need to spend at least 100 dollars on supplies for any art class you decide to take. Make sure you are prepared for this and willing to spend the money before making any decisions about the art class!Image result for money on art supplies

2. Be patient with yourself!

If you have not taken an art class ever before, ARTS 532 can become very frustrating to many students. Remember that you are there to learn rather than for the grade, and that your professor is there to help you. Do not be embarrassed of your work or to ask questions. Image result for people drawing

3. Plan to be in the class for a long block of time.

Most art classes are at least two hours along to provide work time for a student. If you are hesitant about putting an art class into your schedule for the semester, keep in mind that you will be in this class for a long amount of time, and figure out if that will be alright for you.Image result for clock

4. Use this class to unwind and relax!

As we all know, most drawing classes, (yes, ARTS 532, too) do not require much time put into it outside of class. take advantage of this and enjoy your time learning during your art class this semester!Image result for relaxed art studio

5. Embrace the progress you will make.

At the end of the semester, your professor will most likely have you look at work you have done at the beginning of the semester as well as work you have recently done, and compare the two. You are guaranteed to see improvement– embrace it! It is a great accomplishment to start from scratch and see big changes in just a few short months. Image result for college art classes

Overall, Introductory Drawing is a great class for students to take in order to broaden their horizons and try something they never have. Look into putting ARTS 532 into your schedule for next semester!
