As a freshmen in college, it is hard to decide which classes to start off with! You are still unfamiliar with the requirements, and you’re not sure what would interest you. Luckily, there are classes that are perfect for freshmen to take in order to spark your interest in certain fields and get some general education credits out of the way. Here are 5 classes that are great for freshmen at the University of New Hampshire.

1.ENGL 401 — First Year Writing.

This is a class that you will most likely be signed up for when you go to UNH to make your schedule. Although it is a required course, it prepares you for writing in classes you will take later on in your college career. 2. PSYC 401 — Intro to Psychology.

One of the many intro courses that freshmen can sign up for. An interesting class that will help complete some of your discovery requirements, and may open doors to a possible major or minor in psychology! 3. SOC 400 — Intro to Sociology 

The Introductory Sociology class that the University of New Hampshire offers opens up new ideas about how people interact with each other to college students. 4. An intro lab science of your choice.

Choose a lab science and get your science credits out of the way. Whether you are majoring in something science based or not, it is good to get as many discovery credits out of the way as you can during your first two years of college, so you can focus more on your major during your junior and senior year. Image result for college lab science classes

5. A QR requirement.

Every student at the University of New Hampshire is required to take at least one math course during their 4 years at the university. It will make your life easier if you get your Quantitative Reasoning requirement out of the way, and better yet, never have to take another math class again. Image result for college math classes

Overall, freshmen year in college is about earning some general education credits and finding out what you’re truly interested in doing for the rest of your life. Explore different courses and work hard this semester!
