Hamilton hall

Hamilton Hall is one of the ten dormitory options at the University of Oregon. If you’re searching for an authentic college dorm room experience, look no further! Here are 5 pros of living in Hamilton Hall:

The thought of sharing a small room with someone for an entire year can be pretty daunting. If you’re worried about tight living quarters but don’t want to pay an extra couple thousand dollars for a bigger room, Hamilton is the perfect choice for you! The standard doubles are just small enough for you and your roommate to develop a close friendship, but also big enough for you to feel like you have your own personal space. They’re cozy, comfortable, and homey!

The Hamilton basement offers many nooks ideal for a multitude of things. If you’re a music major in dire need of a space to practice freely, there are several practice rooms in the basement. If you’ve exhausted your dorm room and other study areas on campus, there are also quiet rooms designated for studying. Finished with midterms and want to celebrate? Pop some popcorn, grab a group of friends, and hold a movie night in the Hamilton basement lounge!

Hamilton isn’t smack dab at the center of campus like Carson or the Living Learning Center, but it’s pretty darn close! It only takes about five minutes to walk to the EMU, and twelve minutes to walk to the Lillis Business Complex, which is on the opposite side of campus. Hamilton is perfect if you want to reach 10,000 steps on your Fitbit. It’s also great for a scenic stroll to class on a beautiful Fall day!

Hamilton dining offers a diverse range of food options. Head over to Common Grounds Cafe for a delicious acai bowl and your daily cup of coffee. Build your own burger at Gastro Kitchen, get a mouth-watering burrito at Big Mouth, or make your own stir fry bowl at Fire ‘N’ Spice! Have too many leftover meal points? Treat yourself with some snacks at the Grab ‘n’ Go Marketplace! If you’re a vegan or have special dietary needs, Hamilton offers vegan and gluten free options, so you don’t need to worry!

Most people go to the Starbucks in the EMU or the one next to the Duck Store, but if you want a change of scenery, no need to walk that far! There’s one located next to Hamilton across from Matthew Knight Arena! Tired of dorm food and want to venture out? There’s a  Market of Choice located next to Matthew Knight Arena that is perfect for grocery shopping, or a change in menu!

These are just five of the many pros of living in Hamilton Hall at the University of Oregon. Wherever you live, you’ll have an amazing experience at the UO and the most important thing is to find a place where you’ll feel comfortable and happy for your first year as a Duck!
