Jobs and Opportunities for students at UTSG

Jobs and opportunities are important for students to get a hold of. For two reasons, one for students that are a bit tight in their expenses and need extra cash and the second being that students can get work experience before they graduate and look for a job in the outside world, which can be hard without any experience. For students that are having a hard time looking for a job, there is no need to fear because there are plenty of job opportunities at University of Toronto St. George. The school is flexible with their schedules for school jobs because they know students are busy with school work and courses. So here is a list of jobs and opportunities for students at university of Toronto of St. George.

1. Pool Lifeguard

Many students by the time they attend university have gotten their life guard certificate, to where they can guard the swimming pool. This is a great job as the pay is above minimum wage starting at $17 per hour and the number of hours per week will vary. The student has to have prior experience as a lifeguard and know the pool policies and procedures. There is also a list of specific certifications that you need which can be found online.

2. Coordinator – Child & Youth Basketball

If you are a student that likes working with children and would like to get some experience working with kids, this is a great opportunity for you. This position is responsible for mentoring, training and supervising the program, as well as being involved in the promotion and marketing aspects of the program. This job provides a great starting pay of $21 per hour and the number of hours per week will vary, usually less than 6 per week. This will be great for students as it is flexible and it doesn’t take up too much of their time.

3. Student Assistant at the Library

The campus library employees students for student assistants. This is a part time job and has very flexible schedules as they know students are very busy. This position is responsible for shelving and self maintenance at the library, also checking in and out books. There are shifts when there is two student assistants with no supervision. The hiring positions is done in march for the next academic period starting September.

4. MoveU Team Member

This is a great volunteering position for students to get valuable experience from, especially if you are in the kinesiology program. As a team member you are responsible for conducting in class physical activity movement breaks, developing health education displays, participating in campus orientation events and much more. You will have to dedicate 5 hours per week for this position and this is a great opportunity for students to network.

6. Customer Service Staff

This is a part time job that students can apply for. This position is for the bookstore at this campus. The pay is $14 per hour. As a customer service staff it is your responsibility to handle transactions, answer questions and ensure that the customers have everything that they need. It would be a great position for students as the bookstore is nearby the campus.

7. Student Brand Ambassador

This position is only available for student that are currently attending UTSG campus and are able to commit 1 academic year to this position. In this job students will make $19 per hour and have a flexible schedule. As a brand ambassador your responsibilities will be to deliver presentations and inform students, and to use social media and your networking skill to engage students with the brand.
