University Freshman Year could be difficult sometimes since it is totally different from high school. Here are 10 Tips to Survive Freshman Year at WVU!

1. Learn Country Roads Take Me Home

First and foremost, you should know this song backwards and forwards. This is WVU’s anthem and a song you will sing for years to come.

2. Don’t lose your Mountaineer Card

Your biggest collegiate accomplishment, next to your diploma, will be the [0] on your Mountaineer Card. This is your life line.

3. Appreciate your meal plan

One of the few things upperclassmen will envy you for is your meal plan. You have the power to eat what you want, where you want, and when you want (mostly between the hours of 8 am- 9pm) without spending your own money. Also, who can get tired of Taco Tuesdays and Wing Wednesdays with your best buds?

4. Don’t trust the prt

Try to get to the PRT at least 15 minutes before needing to actually be there. It will break down and stampedes will occur.

5. Buy a fan

If you don’t know how long WVU has been around, all you need to do is check out some of the downtown dorms. Air conditioning is not a luxury for all. Buy the best fan in sight and thank later. (Downtown is still where it’s at though.)

6. Utilize the Rec Center

You are blessed with a great gym, and your tuition pays for it to be that great. TAKE ADVANTAGE OF IT. The Freshman 15 is not a myth at WVU.

7. Befriend your RA and classmates

There’s is no better feeling than getting off the hook because your RA is your homie or getting an A because your classmates have your back. Don’t be shy!

8. NO Lanyard

Everyone wants to show off their new WVU gear. Unfortunately, the one around your necks screams freshman. So, don’t.

9.  Go to class

It doesn’t matter how you get there or what you look like there. The bottom line is you’re paying for it and sometimes getting extra credit for it. GO.

10. Have Fun

You only get one freshman year
