Document Summary

Based on the prescribed textbook: h. scott fogler; elements of chemical reaction engineering; fifth. This unit deals with this step of the chemical process. Two points will be discussed in this unit: chemical reaction rates and the factors affect them. Heterogeneous reaction: suitable reactor for a chemical process. Pilot scale (reactor behaviours, data for scale up) Chemical kinetics is the most important information (input) for reactor design. Chemical kinetics is the study of rate and mechanism. The chemical reaction rate is the rate at which a species looses its chemical identity per unit volume. The identity of a chemical species is determined by the kind, number and configuration of that species" atoms. The common reactor types we can see in chemical industry. Knowledge of cre distinguishes the chemical engineer from other engineers. We will have a closer look at the common reactor types soon. Text book: h. scott fogler; elements of chemical reaction engineering; fifth edition 2016; prentice hall.
