- Structure of all psychological research:
- → a clear rationale (might be coming from theory, on basis of previous research, may be
intuitive idea that came to researcher) motivating the particular piece of research
- → a research question (or research hypothesis ) derived from this rationale
- → a research design for identifying and collecting data appropriate for answering the
research question
- → an inferential analysis of the data that is coherent with the research question
- → an evaluation and integration of the findings from this analysis for the research
question with the original rationale
- This subject focuses on research questions, inferential analyses, evaluations and
integrations, assume research has sound rationale
-
- Fourteen basic principles of research
- Principle 1: Research Question ⇒ the primary driving force of all research is the research
question (RQ); a good research question ideally contains a ? at the end, lists all
constructs being investigated, indicate relevant population(s), specify relationship(s)
among constructs
- A well-formulated research question should clearly, coherently, and logically be derived
from a rationale for research, imply a research design for collecting data, indicate a kind
of analysis

Document Summary

A clear rationale (might be coming from theory, on basis of previous research, may be intuitive idea that came to researcher) motivating the particular piece of research. A research question (or research hypothesis ) derived from this rationale. A research design for identifying and collecting data appropriate for answering the research question. An inferential analysis of the data that is coherent with the research question. An evaluation and integration of the findings from this analysis for the research question with the original rationale. This subject focuses on research questions, inferential analyses, evaluations and integrations, assume research has sound rationale. A well-formulated research question should clearly, coherently, and logically be derived from a rationale for research, imply a research design for collecting data, indicate a kind of analysis. Prediction regression, linear regression most popularly used. Group difference t-test, anova, or linear contrast. Research question should indicate relevant population that is being investigated.
