Week 11 work related determinants of health. Overview of work related determinants of health and safety culture. Important determinant of health: satisfying, safe work = positive health, financial security, greater engagement in society. However, under some conditions -> work is a major risk factor for poor health, disability and even death. The product of individual and group values, attitudes, perceptions, competencies, and patterns of behaviour that determine the commitment to, and the style and proficiency of, an organisations health and safety management. Shared perceptions of the importance of safety. Confidence in the efficacy of preventative measures. May complement workplace health and safety arrangements but will not lessen or change requirements and obligations. Can enjoy life in and outside of workplace. The reaction people may have when presented with demands and pressures that are not matched to their knowledge and abilities which challenge their ability to cope.
