Women in the south pacific tend to have their status dismissed through customs, religion and traditions. Additionally men reinforce women"s subordination and discrimination against them. There is also a high prevalence of violence towards women which seldom reported due to their unequal status and the reinforcement of male"s power and females submission. When it comes to new technologies and education, men tend to dominate these areas as well and disallow women to engage with them. There is also a strong reinforcement of the stereotypical ideals of men and women portrayed through the media.
