Document Summary

Huge literature on lying and telling if people are lying. 54% of the time people correctly judge whether of not people are lying. Remember, only slightly higher than a coin toss - ie. we can hardly tell. This is based on 24 000 sample group - with different types evaluators, types of lies, methods of conveying information. Are people who are trained better judges of whether or not someone is lying. People come in and watch the videos of the male suspects. Have to make a judgement on whether they are innocent or guilty (they all claim they are innocent) Have to also had to say how confident you were. Bias: some people who are sceptical, so are more likely to say people they are lying. More likely to say they are lying than naive students. More likely to say they are lying than naive students or even trained students.
