DOH253 Lecture Notes - Lecture 8: Dental Lamina, Dental Papilla, Enamel Organ
Document Summary
The central cells of developing enamel organ differentiate further to give the stellate reticulum cells sr with intercellular spaces (star shaped network extensions linked together) Cells in the centre of the cavity (under) are mesenchymal cells surround. Iee become more columnar enamel organ (dental papilla - inside and follicle - outside) The white space is the stomodeum/mouth cavity. Pink is the epithelium that lines the oral cavity. Leading from it is the dark line that is the dental lamina that divides into two, the dental lamina continuous (on the right) and vestibular degenerates to give a space (on the left) Dental lamina remains in tact and at specific sites a tooth is forming. At the end is the successional lamina that is the lingual extension to give the successor tooth. In the middle is the developing primary tooth. 4 different types of cells can be identified that is differentiated in a way that can be distinguished easily.
