Patient Safety can be defined as reducing the risk of unnecessary harm associated with
healthcare to an acceptable minimum. An acceptable minimum refers to current knowledge,
resources available and the context in which care was delivered, weighed against the risk of non-
treatment or other treatment.
Simply put, it is the prevention of errors and adverse effect to patients associated with
healthcare.
