BUSN2038 Lecture Notes - Lecture 1: Human Resource Management, Job Satisfaction, Operations Management
Document Summary
Define the terms human resource management (hrm) & human resources; Hrm focuses on managing people within the employer-employee relationship. It involves the productive use of people in achieving the organization"s strategic business objectives and the satisfaction of individual employee needs (stone,2017) Case study note: this definition is based on what is called the mutual gains hypothesis. This suggests that both organizations and employees should benefit from the hrm relationship. i. e. the. Organization will benefit because it uses employees to achieve its goals and enhance productivity. Employees benefit by gaining job satisfaction from doing their job correctly. Hrm can also be defined as the activities undertaken to attract, develop and retain an effective workforce within an organization". This is based on the process of hrm. This process can be demonstrated by using the employee life cycle. This is all about the interactions between the employee and the organization during the course of the employment.
