Literature= useless? purpose is important, not written for intended purpose? not written to be read or shared. literacy rates in ancient egyptian, consumed in a number of ways. Literature and time/memory: value beyond time period, texts become a shared entity in a cultural group becomes part of cultural memory (high school texts) Literature and the (cid:1684)grand themes(cid:1685) of human life? sorrow, anger, happiness, love, life and death, world expressions of these grand themes.
