Document Summary
Going to look at mechanics and theory in making sure curriculum and assessment are aligned. We need to be careful when designing teaching strategies and assessments to ensure they are clearly linked w outcomes we are seeking to achieve. Without a linkage between teaching strategies, assessments & learning outcomes, we can not make valid conclusions about the meaning of assessment data. This will also affect the validity of reports we write to parents and our ability to design effective interventions to meet specific learning needs. Today we review the strategies and tools that you can use to ensure alignment between syllabus, outcomes, teaching strategies and assessment. Outcomes should be the basis for planning for both teaching and assessment. A well-designed curriculum shows close alignment between outcome, learning experiences and assessment. The taxonomy for learning, teaching and assessing" (anderson & krathwohl, 2001) proved a framework for describing these 3 aspects of teaching.
