Bizarre reasons for ovarian disorders (fake news) ovaries roll up pelvis if women drive in. Incidence and cause: poi or premature ovarian failure (pof, a ects ~2% of population, genetic turner & fragile x syndrome, inhibin gene, unknown autoimmune, side-e ect of cancer/ fertility issues and treatment. Related health issues = osteoporosis, heart disease, hypothyroidism, auto-immune diseases (2) anovulation: no ovulation = no egg = no pregnancy, 40% of all infertile women. Symptoms = oligomenorrhoea (infrequent period) or amenorrhoea (absent period), > 6mths. Causes = hormone de ciency, very low body weight (<20%) eating disorders, obesity (10-15%) and weight uctuations, diet and stress, over-exercise, hormone resistance (insulin) and damaged or diseased ovaries, pituitary tumour. Diagnosis = ultrasound (look for abnormalities ovarian (big cysts), uterine growths, endometriosis) or blood tests (steroids, gonadotrophins, prolactin, thyroid, amh) Treatment: lifestyle changes are important do these before going straight for ivf or art, hormonal ovulation induction (oi)
