Increasing fertility: yellow = industry, white = common. In general we want to increase economy by decreasing labour. Starvation anovulation, inability to maintain pregnancy, inability to maintain lactation, suppressed sperm production and altered behaviour. Obesity inhibition of ovulation(adipose produces e interferes with hpg axis), inhibition of sperm production (fat around testis a ects sperm), behavioural modi cation, altered foetal nutrition (fat mums alter glucose small babies) and parturition issues. Ush feeding (increase nutrition ever 2-3 weeks) can trick the sheep into thinking now is a great time to reproduce = increased ovulation number and egg quality: e. g. Changing diet of cows can skew the sex ratio of o spring signi cantly dependent on what o spring sex is more valuable for farm. Nutrition and puberty: lambs born earlier grow more before anoestrus period when puberty onset occurs. This means more resources and time are required for sheep to reach reproductive age.
