•Briefly describe what happens in each of the five project
management process groups. What types of activities occur before
initiating a project?
Process: a series of actions directed toward a particular result
Pre-initiation: perform several pre-initiation tasks for good practice
◦Determine the scope, time, and cost constraints for the project
◦Identify the project sponsor
◦Select the project manager
◦Develop a business case for a project
◦Meet with the project manager to review the process and
expectations for managing the project
◦Determine if the project should be divided into two or more smaller
projects

Initiating processes: recognising and starting a new project or
project phase, main goal is to formally select and start off projects

Planning processes: guide execution
!
Executing processes: when the project is put to work, direct and
manage project work
!
Monitoring and controlling processes: measuring progress toward
project objectives, monitoring deviation from the plan, and taking
correction action
!
Closing process: involves gaining stakeholder and customer
acceptance of the final products and services
◦Final report and presentation to the sponsor/senior management

•In the scrum method, what role is played by the ScrumMaster?
ScrumMaster: the person who ensures that the team is productive,
facilitates the daily Scrum, enables close cooperation across all
roles and functions, and removes barriers that prevent the team
from being effective
