Violence is the use of excessive physical force, which causes or has the potential to cause harm. Violence can be accepted, encouraged, and legitimate in one sport or situation but not in another it depends on the cultural context. Aggression refers to verbal or physical actions intended to dominate, control or harm another person. Intimidation refers to words, gestures, and actions that threaten violence or aggression. Modern sport is nowhere near as dangerous as ancient sport we don"t go to watch people die. Modern sport has clear rules to manage violence in sport. Rates of violence increase in cities where the team is losing. The sport ethic is about doing anything to win (e. g. , injuring other people and playing through pain) Winning is everything, which means being violent to win. Sport is becoming less violent more rules and regulations are in place (viewers want controlled violence) The media promote violence in sport to encourage people to come and watch.
