Defining the cult film:

• Cultural status: cult film fits a time or region
Fandoms and activity:
• Seen as the social other
• Excess of emotion
• Seen as inferior to typical response
• Reclaimed as a site of power
• Maps or patterns of affect
• Fan fiction – made relevant for their own lives
• Creating new meaning
