Prejudice
- Definitions
oPrejudice – preconceived negative attitude towards a social group (outgroup) and its
members
Can be negative or positive
oDiscrimination – negative behaviours towards people who are the object of
prejudice
Ie based on ethnicity, social group, age etc
oStereotype – shared and simplified image of a social group and its members
Cognitive component of prejudice

African-american children in 1940s chose dolls with white skin rather than
dolls with dark skin
