Within many cultures, co-sleeping is considered common-place due to the belief in the
beneficial outcomes of the practice Arms reach co sleeper is a product for breast
feeding mothers (comprise to bed sharing issue), allows baby to be in close proximity
but in a Safe environment especially when the mother breastfeeds during the night.
Hoffnung et al. (2016) identified that prone sleeping (involves the infant sleeping on their
stomach), maternal smoking, inappropriate sleeping surfaces (sofas), alcohol consumption,
and the use of drugs contribute to eighty percent of all SIDS cases.
Arms reach co-sleeper is another product that has been highly approved by Dr James
McKenna (director of the mother and baby behavioural/sleep laboratory and
implemented into the world specifically designed for breast feeding mothers. It
allows the infant to be near the mother but in a safe environment for sleeping. It
reduces the risks for SIDS as the mother and infant are in separate sleeping places
but are close by. This reduces the risks of the baby changing sleeping positions or the
mother to be unaware of where her child is when she is asleep.
