Media representations of queer lives in contemporary japan. Socio-historical context under which these media representations/ products emerge. How media products function as site where gender norms/ expectations are contested and a sense of belonging claimed" by those not conforming to mainstream genders and sexualities. Covers a range of sexual identities and practices and designates transgendered men who live/ work in sex/ bar world who may/may not have had sex change.
