Standardised/formal: norm referenced, allows for comparison of child performance to their normative peers, able to indicate: wnl/below average. Interviews and questionaries: allows further info to be obtained from parents/caregivers/teachers- more detailed picture of child"s level of functioning. Informal/criterion referenced: procedures derived to examine particular forms without reference to normative data. Allows multiple opportunities for the child the show their understanding- excited production: encouraged child to use particular form but setting the context for it. Structural analysis: analysing the features of language and speech through a sample. Screeners: morphology, semantics, syntax (length and complexity) broad assessment (eg. rapt 3;6-7yr) information morphology, semantics, syntax (length and complexity of sentences) don"t screen pragmatics, phonology and receptive lang. Celf-p2/a- semantics, syntax, morphology, expressive and receptive language, pragmatic checklist (celf-p2 (3-6;11) celf 4 (5-21) Authentic assessment: in home context/ familiar environment over time done by parents/caregivers. Pls-5: preschool language scale (3-6;11)- has a screening component, tests for expressive and receptive language.
