Instability of chronic diseases: target diseases responsive to exercise, level of pa/sedentary behaviour, risk of injury, current functional level, body composition, readiness to change behaviour. Identifies conditions responsive to exercise/worsened by inactivity: refer to gp if new or uncontrolled disease suspected. Temporary exclusions from exercise: fever (pericarditis, fatal virus, acute systemic infection, unstable diabetes, htn, coronary disease, etc, new fracture, soft tissue injury, any new undiagnosed symptom, significant undiagnosed change in mental status. Permanent cv contraindications to vigorous exercise: end stage congestive heart failure. Inoperable severe aortic stenosis: uncontrolled serious arrhythmias, chest pain at rest, proliferative or unstable diabetic or hypertensive retinopathy (bv grow everywhere & Inoperable aortic or cerebral aneurysm increase intraocular pressure) Cv risks during exercise: htn, hypotension, arrhythmias, angina, heart attack, syncope (fainting, retinal bleeding, claudication (vascular disease pain) 4: above figure: absolute & relative intensity vary by age & health status. Do not start or continue prt if this occurs until consultation with physician.
