Environmental analysis - physical: the context (environment) is the important consideration here. It is important to identify these issues: take into consideration the competency standards (covered in week 1 [last week]). Take into consideration the general whs issues as well as the client when assessing the risk in the work environment. Identify any issues in the report (but we cannot make these changes) that will help create a safe work environment. Video examples of assessing environment: welding, physical/environmental - no ppe (should have worn goggles/face shield/gloves/earmuffs to prevent hearing damage/enclosed hard footwear such as boots/should not have worn cardigan/wear overalls or fire retardant clothing instead); work station layout (low). Overt/covert discrimination from co-workers, stigma, threatening to lose job if don"t improve treated disrespectfully, having validity of injury questioned. Lack of education about the system (feeling un-empowered) Let them speak about their roles/duties/what is important to them: supportive rehabilitation coordinators.
