INFO1110 Lecture 1: 1 – Programming basics

Regardless of how much programming experience you have (even not at all) prior to entering this course, with hard work and determination, you"ll be able to call yourself a programmer in 13 weeks" time. These notes are usually grouped by week, except for when topics are covered again in later weeks. In such case, notes on the same topics are grouped together. Week 1 was fairly light on content, but you should make sure you"re comfortable with using a command line and have python 3 installed on your system. A set of instructions written by a human that is then converted to instructions that a computer can understand and execute. Rules that specify the correct combined sequence of symbols that can be used to form a correctly-structured program using a given programming language. A program that translates a program from a high-level to a low-level language (machine code or byte code) so that it can be executed by the computer.
