Anything new in the market has some sort of ethical indications attached to it. Professionals are given certain legal privileges by society (opening pharmacy, sell meds etc. ), including a quasi-monopoly to practice within a certain professional area of expertise. In return for these privileges, professionals accept the responsibility to maintain a standard of conduct beyond an unthinking conformity to the law or the perfunctory performance of a technical skill. Think what you are doing and think about your actions and how it can affect others around you. Self-discipline expressed by professional bodies in codes of ethics is a public recital of desirable behavior of its members and its functional reliability towards the community. Provide a detailed operational blue print of norms of professional conduct. Demonstrates collective self-discipline; based on principles of professional ethics i. e. own pharmacy board that gives us self discipline- making us accountable to the public.
