Why study positive psychology: the core mission of psychology was to study three things prior to wwii, cure mental illness, enhance the lives of the normal population, study geniuses. Success happiness: more productive (staw et al. , 1994) Live longer (danner, snowdown & friesen, 2001: happiness correlates to longevity of life. Survey 1: eudaimonia score - 39, hedonia score - 40. Survey 2: eudamonia score - 38, hedonia score 40. E = engagement: when one is completely in touch with what it is that they are doing. M = meaning: ties into eudaimonia, purposeful existence. A = accomplishment: a sense of achievement. Intentional activity = 40: behavioural activity, cognitive activity, volitional activity.
